Systems Technicians work
in a hands-on environment as members of cross functional engineering teams-
supporting the development of new products. They work closely with some of
the best engineers in the industry and can be involved in the product
development process from initial concept, through the development and
testing. Project work involves extensive software testing and
troubleshooting. This includes testing to find, reproduce, and identify
integration and software issues with our PC and mobile applications,
processors, remotes, lighting controls, and interfaces.
As part of their career development, our technicians rotate through multiple engineering teams, gaining exposure to the broad range of technologies employees in our products. Some of these technologies include: power electronics, plasma physics, analog and digital electronics, RF communication, IR communication and embedded micro-controllers. Doing mainly embedded SW testing, will hook up embedded systems to equipment and run set of prescribed tests, document the results. Previous experience working with electronics/software systems a plus, not required. If junior level, list out course work and projects. Testing/troubleshooting, will use the product like a customer will and find ways to break/test it, before prototypes go into production. Must have excellent documentation and communication skills. Will connect several devices together and connect them to testing equipment, can't be afraid of wiring or electronics. Will be doing Software Testing, Feature Specific, System Integration and New Feature Validation. -Execute pre-written manual test steps -Determine the results of the tests based on specified pass/fail criteria, understanding of the system and a customer perspective of the product/solution -Understand and document all defects encountered during testing with any artifact the of the software development process (e.g. specifications, test plan, code, etc.) -Execute ad-hoc tests based on needs communicated by senior team members when necessary Review test results with senior team members to communicate findings -Offer suggestions for process improvements |

Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree is required Strong interest in testing and troubleshooting Understanding of computer networks, Ethernet and communication protocols like TCP/IP, RS232, and Telnet Proficient in Microsoft Office and other PC applications Strong organizational and problem solving skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Must be comfortable working in a Hardware Environment, will be testing software but will also work with Hardware to setup tests |
