The
Facilities Technology Intern will aid in a variety of activities and tasks
associated with supporting the technological needs of the Facilities
organization. Examples of work that
might be performed by the Facilities Technology Intern include:
- Aiding in the development, testing, and implementation of new software systems and existing system upgrades.
- Supporting back-up protocols and verifying back-up procedures.
- “Help desk” style support for Word, Excel, Access, Email, and standard web browsers.
- Aid in the troubleshooting of printers, handheld computers, 2-way radios, desktop computers, and copiers.
- Support and aid in inventory/asset management initiatives related to Facilities technology hardware.
- Assist in routine programming of electronic locks.
- Provide “help desk” style support for campus authorizing officials for the electronic access controls system.
- Facilitating the identification of issues and connection to the appropriate resource in Facilities for resolution.
- Aid in the development of technology policy and procedural documentation.
- Assist staff with software and hardware problems.
- Aid in the maintenance of computers and peripherals.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Please
Note: There are physical demands that are regularly required to perform this
job. You must be able to lift 10-25 lbs regularly. This position frequently
travels to locations across campus without motor vehicle transportation.
Critical
Skills/Experience:
- Employee must have extensive knowledge of MS Windows and/or Mac OS.
- MS Office applications experience required (Word, Excel, Access).
- Exposure to Microsoft SQL is a plus.
- The student must enjoy helping others and have the ability to communicate with users on how to use a variety of software applications.
- The student is required to have good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- The student is responsible for providing friendly and effective customer service to all clients/customers.
- The student is expected to be able to answer the telephone and provide support to callers.
The position is for approximately 20 hours per week. The starting rate is $9.00 per hour.
