Position Title: IT Support Specialist

Brief Overview:
This entry level IT support position reports directly to the Director of Information
Technology. The IT Support Specialist serves as the first-call support contact for faculty,
staff, and students in need of IT services. This position provides a high level of customer
service while diagnosing and resolving technology problems in a complex mixed platform,
mixed vendor education environment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in IT or related field
  • Certifications in Apple, Windows, and network related technologies preferred
  • Web development skills preferred
  • Experience in technology support in a mixed platform, network environment
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, Macintosh OS X, Windows 8, Windows 7, desktop/mobile hardware/software systems and internet applications
  • Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with a focus on providing effective customer service
Additional Requirements:
  • FBI Clearance, Child Abuse History, PA State Police Criminal History Clearance (All less than 1 year old) that meet all regulatory requirements for employment.
  • Valid PA Driver’s License

UGI Energy Services’ natural gas division has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years through the support of customer acquisitions, new assets and the corresponding trading activity.  As part of the natural gas Customer Operations team, the Business Analyst serves as the lead principal responsible for assessing current practices and designing strategy framework for key process and system improvements which enable UGIES to achieve strategic business targets.

Job Summary (Purpose):
This position will be responsible to develop and implement an efficient and effective QA testing strategy for UGIES.  Candidate should possess a thorough understanding of quality assurance methodology, processes and associated automated testing tools. Individual should possess the ability to organize and lead large, complex testing efforts and also allocate and monitor progress. QA Analyst should have the ability to write a test approach and strategy and must have solid experience in the recommendation of testing tools to lead an automation strategy for a project.  QA Analyst should be experienced in issue resolution and status reporting. Candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Relationship building is a key factor as this position requires interacting with Development, Production Support and Business Support Teams to facilitate testing. Main emphasis on this position is to test code and configuration changes produced by the Development Team. Quality Assurance Analyst will also participate in production support for all applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan , develop and implement an effective testing strategy for UGI Energy Services to ensure consistent testing efforts
  • Design, create and maintain test cases, scenarios, scripts, and regression testing
  • Plan, document, evaluate and track testing results to ensure system applications are free from defects
  • Provides advice on how processes and procedures may be improved to promote quality assurance and control on future system implementations
  • Conduct integration testing for all program changes to UGIES Applications. Ensure accuracy of changes and log exceptions and issues as identified; provide detailed documentation of tests conducted and issues identified; expand upon test plan created by developers to account for other situations that may need to be tested.
  • Provide details for UAT testing to be conducted by Business Support Team and create test scenarios and plans
  • Work with business users, system analysts, designers and programmers to create and analyze various required project documents
  • Participate in production implementation verification and being accountable for validating system quality
  • Plan test strategies in accordance with project scope and develop schedules to meet delivery dates.
  • Follow Regression Testing Plan to conduct standard set of tests prior to every production promotion; compare actual results to expected results; document pass/fail status; work with Applications Developers to address any Regression Test failures
  • Recommend and implement appropriate automated testing tools
  • Conduct Quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Testing for Department
  • Conduct annual baseline testing for Key Reports
  • Participate in Production Verification
  • Create Metrics and status reports for projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Testing skills and best practices
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business requirements and technical specifications
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with personnel at all levels
  • Very detail-oriented and able to clearly document defects and test plans in detail
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, solve practical problems
  • Handle situations where only limited standardization exists, with consideration of business process, data procedures and defects

Education and Experience Required:

·         BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
·         5+ years of experience in Applications Support and Quality Assurance Position
·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills
·         Detail-oriented with a commitment to follow-through
·         Experience with Microsoft Project or Microsoft Visio
·         Over-time as required
