Position Summary
PPL Electric Utilities Information Technology organization is seeking 10 students to work full time (40 hours/week) during summer 2018, in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
A PPL Intern/Cooperative Associate is a temporarily employed full-time college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience.

 Primary Responsibilities
PPL Electric Utilities Information Technology organization is seeking 10 students to work full time (40 hours/week) during summer 2018, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. 
The PPL Electric Utilities IT intern/cooperative will actively work to plan, develop and execute solutions that support the increasing need for technology on the electric grid.  To support this objective, this intern/cooperative candidate will work in various potential areas including

  • Application Development (Mobile and Web)
  • IT Infrastructure
  • Cloud Computing and Integration
  • Machine Learning/Data Analytics
  • Strategic IT planning and project management.
Sample projects include:
  • Deploy a virtual personal assistant for the helpdesk
  • Creating a single data model for Asset Information
  • Using Google Cloud API (or similar) for indexing and natural response of our emergency procedure database
  • Deploying a mobile app for executive system awareness
  • Using data analytics to optimize conversion of customers off of paper billing
  • Customer interconnection Process& DERMs project
  • Using a cloud solution for HR systems
  • IT Asset/Inventory Management
  • XenMobile and Office 365
  • Data visualization for operations
Candidate Qualifications

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

Basic Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, and Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • Enrolled on a full-time basis (12 semester hours). Students may not continue as an Intern/Co-operative Associate once they have graduated.
  • Have an acceptable overall (cumulative) grade point average, not lower than a 3.0.
  • Eligible to work in accordance with Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS) regulations.
  • Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.
  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
