This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking to put your knowledge to work in a variety of research areas nationally. Several KU students have participated in REU experiences in the past, which has helped them in landing jobs and excelling at these jobs.

Internship opportunity at Lehigh Valley Health Network
Research Scholar Program at Lehigh
Valley Health Network (LVHN) is a paid internship program for undergrads that
may be interested in the healthcare field. Below is some important
information for those interested in the internship opportunities.
- The program runs from June 6, 2016 to July 29, 2016
- Stipend is $2,000.
- Approximately 40 positions available for virtually every undergraduate major, including pre-medicine, biology, chemistry, engineering, psychology, business, education, computer science, information technology, media and graphics design, and the liberal arts.
- Students work on research or quality improvement projects with mentors in both the hospital’s clinical and non-clinical departments.
- Some students in the past have done work that had been publishable or was presented at national conferences.
- Opportunities to learn and shadow physicians, nurses, and other clinical and non-clinical staff in a large, healthcare environment.
- Gain important networking contacts and references.
- Application deadline is February 15, 2016.

Summer Internship Program
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) Summer Internship Program will provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to participate in projects focused on helping DNDO meet its mission of “implementing domestic nuclear detection efforts for a managed and coordinated response to radiological and nuclear threats, as well as integration of federal nuclear forensics programs.” Internships will primarily focus on projects related to Advanced Technology Demonstration programs, or are otherwise in the areas of: Materials Research and Supporting Technology, Advanced Analytics, Nuclear Forensics, Program Management, Radiation Detection, and Shielded Special Nuclear Material (SNM) Detection.
Undergraduate students receive a stipend of $600 per week for ten weeks plus travel expenses.
Graduate students receive a stipend of $700 per week for ten weeks plus travel expenses.
Research experiences are anticipated at: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley, CA) ● Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (Livermore, CA) ● Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos, NM) ● National Security Technologies – Remote Sensing Laboratory (Los Vegas, NV and Andrews AFB, MD) ● Oak Ridge National Laboratory (Oak Ridge, TN) ● Savannah River National Laboratory (Aiken, SC)

Research and Development Internship
Position Overview
Baseball Info Solutions is looking for candidates to fill
a paid internship in our R&D Department in the spring and summer
seasons. Ideally, the candidate will be
available in early February through the baseball season, but summer-only intern
candidates will be considered as well.
The intern will work out of our office near Allentown, PA and will
assist our R&D team, supporting research for publications and future
products. Recent R&D interns have
landed internships and full-time jobs with major league teams.
The position requires a variety of skills including (but
not limited to) an analytical mind, computer expertise, writing ability, and a
passion for baseball.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with contemporary baseball/sports analytics
and research Analytical/Mathematical ability Proficiency working in Microsoft
Office programs (or equivalents), especially Excel Experience with MySQL, SQL
Server, or similar databases.
An ability to write and communicate effectively with a
variety of audiences An ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Experience with other statistical packages (e.g. R), programming languages
(e.g. Python, .NET), and/or graphical visualizations (e.g. Tableau) would be a
plus
